ABOUT COACH RAY TRaitz
Founder, AMRAP Fitness
Coach Ray Traitz was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where his passion for movement, strength, and coaching began at a young age. From early on, he was drawn not only to improving his own physical performance, but also to helping others move better, get stronger, and develop confidence through disciplined training.
Growing up, Ray participated in multiple sports, including soccer, baseball, and track and field. He found his greatest success — and love — in wrestling and football, competing in both throughout high school and continuing his athletic career at Kutztown University, a Division II program in Pennsylvania.
Ray’s competitive journey did not end there. He has been involved in CrossFit since 2007 and competed at a high level for many years, including appearances at the CrossFit Games Northeast Regionals from 2009–2013. In 2017, competing in the Masters division, he finished 23rd in the world in the CrossFit Games Open. His experience as a competitive athlete gives him firsthand insight into the discipline, consistency, and resilience required for long-term success — both in sport and in life.
Beyond athletics, Coach Ray’s foundation is education.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Sports Pedagogy, as well as a Master’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Emporia State University. His academic background, combined with extensive continuing education in sports psychology, behavior change, and nutrition, allows him to coach individuals with a balanced, thoughtful approach — not just physically, but mentally and behaviorally as well.
Today, Coach Ray works primarily with busy adults through structured, semi-private training focused on consistency, accountability, and sustainable progress. His coaching philosophy emphasizes fundamentals, clear expectations, and long-term habits over quick fixes or extreme approaches.
AMRAP Fitness was built to provide a calm, professional training environment where individuals feel supported, challenged, and respected — regardless of their starting point.
