Ray Traitz, Owner of AMRAP Fitness

Ray Traitz is a resident of Congers, NY and has been engaged in personal training and coaching since 1997. He is a father of two and a loving husband. Traitz was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Levittown, PA for most of his childhood. At a very young age he sparked a strong interest in moving faster, getting stronger, learning on how, and teaching others. Testing his physical as well as athletic capacities were a daily occurrence through out his life and still today.

Ray's leadership and work ethic stem from his father who served in the United States Marine Corps. These characteristics helped him reach the success in sports, school, and his career. If it were not for Ray being recruited to play football in college, he would be serving as a US Marine.

Growing up he participated in several sports, soccer, baseball, track & field, but excelled at wrestling and football. He has also been competing as a CrossFit athlete since 2007. Traitz has finished higher than any other local CrossFit athlete in the area in the premier annual Reebok CrossFit competition.

Ray majored in education with a minor in sports pedagogy at Kutztown University of PA, where he also played Division II college football. He also holds MS in Health & Physical Education from Emporia University of KS.  Along with his academic credentials, Ray is also skilled in the fields of Sports Psychology.

Traitz started is career as a teacher, but his true passion was fitness and improving athletic performance. Teaching and coaching went hand and hand so when he decided to shift his career solely for strength, conditioning, fitness, and it was a win. The hunger for learning never stopped and in the winter of 2006 he discovered CrossFit. This nurtured his want to not only improve himself and his clients, but educated him tremendously. CrossFit helped him build his own business (AMRAP Fitness) and open new doors for his future working at Vision Sports Club in Pearl River, NY.

Over the years Traitz created the AMRAP method of training. This is a unique training style that has been developed to further Ray’s personal goal of striving for excellence in health, fitness, and performance for his clients, career, and family. You will not find his style of training anywhere else on the planet.

Traitz is a strong advocate of giving back to the community. He pays tribute to all service men and women past, present, and future every year with a charity event for the Wounded Warrior Project. In addition, he finds a way to give to some type of child foundation such as St. Jude’s hospital, Children’s Cancer research, and Child abuse America to name a few.

When Ray is not working you can find him spending time with his family, hanging out, going to the movies, traveling, and researching about health, fitness, athletic performance, and motivation.

Jennifer "jb" Baelis

I was never an athlete growing up, so when I discovered crossfit I surprised even myself by getting instantly hooked on it. I loved everything about it - the constant variation, trying new "scary" things, the supportive and encouraging environment, setting goals for myself and then actually attaining them.  I was a 40 year old mother of three kids and felt like an athlete for the first time in my life.

My experience inspired me to become certified as a trainer and to share with others what I have learned on my journey so far. I strive to help people discover their own passion for fitness, and the sense of pride and accomplishment that can be derived from it.
